Youths of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) have made passionate appeal to the leadership of the party to reject the reelection bid of Prince Adeola Jokomba, the incumbent chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area and his deputy, Haruna Balogun, in the forthcoming council poll in Lagos State.

The youths under the aegis of the Patriotic Members of Action Congress of Nigeria, Ikorodu North chapter, in a petition dated 22 August, 2011, signed by its general secretary, Amos Reuben and sent to the chairman of the ACN, Lagos State chapter, had levelled sundry allegations ranging from corrupt practices to neglect of the people of the area, against the chairman.

The group alleged that the Jokomba-led administration had nothing to show for a total sum of N740 million the local government council collected through federal allocation and internally generated revenue.

It said the people of the LCDA had suffered neglect in the current dispensation owing to the insensitivity of the chairman and his deputy to the plight of the people.

The group therefore appealed to the leadership of the party in the state not to field Adeola Jokomba and Haruna Balogun as the party’s flag bearer in the forthcoming council poll, noting, however, that if that is done, it may lead the party losing the LCDA to the opposition.

In a related development, another group, Concerned Mind Youth Network, has petitioned the state chapter of the party to wade in and stop the return of the incumbent chairman and his deputy.

It accused the Jokomba-led administration of redundancy and self-centredness, among other things, in a petition signed by one Kupoluyi Ayodeji and made available to LG Circuit, while calling for the rejection of the duo from contesting the forthcoming council poll in the state.
