Man Steals Trousers, Shirts, Docked

The police in Asaba on Tuesday arraigned a 33-year old man, Onyiyechukwu Agbasiowe, for stealing.

Police prosecutor, Faith Esenwa told the court that the accused person committed the crime on August 28 at the Cable Point area of the Asaba Magisterial District.

Esenwa said that on the said date, the accused person stole 30 pairs of male jeans trousers valued at N60,000, as well as 20 pairs of female jeans trousers valued at N33,000 and 16 pieces of polo shirts worth N24,000.

He disclosed further that the accused stole 15 pieces of packaged shirts valued at N30,000 and 13 pieces of BYC vests valued at N9,750.

In addition, he accused Agbasiowe of stealing 11 boxer pants and stockings valued at N5,500 and N1,750 respectively, bringing the total to N164,000.

The prosecutor told the court that the stolen property belonged to Mr. Henry Enwelim and that the offence was punishable under Section 390 (6) of the Criminal Code C21, Vol. 1, Laws of Delta , 2006.

However, the accused person pleaded not guilty and was granted bail by Chief Magistrate Nnamdi Onyekwe in the sum of N200,000.

He is also to provide one surety with landed property in Asaba, with the surety swearing to an affidavit of means and providing two passport photographs.

Onyekwe adjourned the case to September 20 for hearing.
