Police Foil Robbery, Recover Car, Arms
Anti-Robbery policemen attached to Victoria Island Police Station, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, have foiled a robbery attempt at Kuramo Close, near Bar Beach.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS on the foiled robbery attempt, the Lagos State police image maker, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, said the timely arrival of the anti-robbery team from Victoria Island, who were on patrol saved residents of the area.
According to Jinadu, the gun battle which lasted for several hours left two of the robbers dead while others escaped.
“The anti-robbery police team from Victoria Island, ran into the robbers as they (robbers) were about to attack residents of Kuramo Close, near Bar Beach and engaged them in gun battle which lasted for some time and at the end, two of the robbers were killed while others escaped with injuries,†he said.
The police image maker further explained that the robbers came to the area with a Toyota bus marked BV 785 KUJ.
Items recovered from the robbers include 4 AK 47 rifles, 23 magazines, 225 live ammunition and the Toyota Sienna bus.
Jinadu advised members of the public to always report suspicious movements in their areas to the police for prompt action, adding that such information will be kept secret.
