Security Guard, 2 Others Jailed For Burglary

A security guard, Lawal Mustapha, 24, with two other accomplices, Abdullahi Muhammed, 20, and Isaac Ayuba, 23, were on Tuesday charged with house breaking.

The accused are standing trial before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on a three-count charge of conspiracy, house breaking and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Unuane Williams, said that the crimes were committed with some other persons still at large.

He said that the accused, on September 5, broke into Block 3, Plot 9, Osborne Phase II Estate, Ikoyi.

He said Mustapha, being the guard on duty, conspired with others and broke into the apartment of Mr. Afolabi Oluwasolape, his employer.

Williams alleged that “the accused in the process carted away one computer laptop, a Nigerian passport and three mobile phones.

The accused also stole cash of N60,000 and 1,220 dollars, he said.

He said the offences contravened Sections 390, 411 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2003.

Mustapha and the other accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and were granted bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

The magistrate, Mrs. O.I. Oguntade adjourned the case till November 1 for further hearing.
