Aries Coach Sad Over Team’s Defeat

Chief Coach of Aries FC,Osahon Emokpae, has expressed disappointment over the defeat his team suffered in the match against Olukoya Daniel FC in the final of Boska Cup played last Saturday at the Astro Turf pitch of National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos

Olukoya Daniel FC defeated Aries FC 5-4 on penalty shootout after 2-2 draw at the regulation time in the pulsating encounter watched by a mammoth crowd. Peter Ogonyi scored the equalising goal for Olukoya Daniel Boys to extend the game to penalty shootout.

Emokpae blamed his players for losing concentration in the last minutes. He said their opponents deserved the victory because they fought like wounded lions before they got their equaliser.

“My players let me down because they failed to play to my instructions. I expected them to defend well in the last minutes of the game but unfortunately they lost concentration,” he said.

Emokpae praised Olukoya Danie for the victory.

He said their opponents played the game of their lives which earned them victory at the end of the day.

Aries striker, Dele Solomon told P.M.Sports that his teammates tried their best but were unlucky not to have won the game in the penalty shootout.

“I cannot blame anybody in this situation. We tried our best to win the cup but mother luck was against us. We want to appeal to our fans not to give up on us for letting them down in a crucial game like this,” he said.
