Nigeria’s Premier League side, Shooting Stars Sports Club, 3SC will tomorrow engage a youth football academy, Sports City International Academy in a friendly game in Ibadan, Oyo State.
P.MSports gathered that the coach of 3SC, fondly called Oluyole Warrior, ex-international Fatai Amoo, wants to use the friendly match to test the fitness of his players as the ongoing season of the Nigeria Premier League is temporarily put on hold because of the Federation Cup and some other issues bothering on the management of the league board.
Speaking ahead of the friendly tie, handler of Sports City International, Coach Tunde Ibrahim, a former players of the defunct Stationary Stores of Lagos said that the match is coming at the right time when he is trying to expose his players to top flight games in order to instill confidence in them.
According to Ibrahim, a certified coach from Sevilla Football Club of Spain, “I’m so glad when Fatai Amoo, my very good brother sanctioned the friendly match. The encounter will boost the morale of my young players and it will also give them a sense of belonging in the club.
“We have played about 22 friendly matches in the past one year. These have taken us to Ghana, Badagry and we are planning a trip to Togo. We’ll be in Ibadan on Friday (tomorrow) by the grace of God to honour 3SC and I have told my boys to see the friendly as a crucial match. We want to give our senior brothers a good run for their money in the match.
“Some of my players who will feature in the encounter are Kelechi Oyemaze, Kunle Taylor, Ibrahim Adex and Fadelu Ibrahim, †he said.
Coach Ibrahim gave kudos to the President of the academy, Mr. Francis Senayo, who bought a new set of jerseys for the players to motivate them for the match.
He aslo commended Coach Dan Ajibode for his support. According to Ibrahim, Ajibode, a member of the Lagos State Football Association, LSFA, donated a bus for the use of the academy.
