Olukoya Daniel Team Deserved To Win Boska Cup

Emmanuel Ibeh is the chief coach of Daniel Olukoya FC OF Yaba. His team defeated Aries FC to win this year’s Boska Cup. After the encounter, he spoke about his team’s secret with SUNDAY AKINTOYE

How would you rate the performance of your team against Aries in the final of Boska Cup?

It was a good performance because my players played to instructions which gave them the victory. Aries FC are a good side but thank God that we got that last minute equaliser. We deserved to win the cup because my players played to expectations.

You would agree with me that Aries dominated the encounter in the first half but you outplayed them in the second half and got the equaliser, what was the secret?

Even when our opponents were leading us, we kept putting pressure on them. The secret is that the players were determined and focused throughout the encounter. They did not give up until they got their equalising goal in the last minutes.

Which team gave you a tough time in the championship?

Our final match against Aries was a tough match for me. We struggled before we got our equaliser. We almost lost that match. I want to thank Jonathan Aigbe who scored the equaliser for us. Some of our fans had almost given up before we levelled up.

What is your assessment of this year’s Boska Cup?

This year’s edition is better than the previous editions. All the matches were played at the Astro turf pitch of the National Stadium. This enabled many players to display their football artistry. I must confess that the officiating and organisation of the competition was impressive.

Which area do you want the organisers or the sponsor of the Cup to improve on?

The organisers have done well but I want to appeal to the title sponsor, Orange Drug Limited, to increase the prize money in the next edition.

You are coming as a defending champion next year; do you see the team retaining the title?

I cannot say for now because some of these players may not be in this club next year.

I know that it can be difficult for me to defend the title, but I am sure I will go places next year.
