The management of the Nigerian Ports Authority has assured the executives of Transocean Support Services Nigeria Limited of excellent services in the maintenance of the Semi Submersible Oil Rig “GSF 140” which is anchored off the Marina waterfront, Lagos.

Engr. Omar Sulaiman, the Managing Director of NPA made this statement through his representative, the General Manager, Marine, Captain Iheanacho Ebubeogu when a delegation of Transocean Support Services Nigeria Limited led by Mr. Andy Rennie paid him a courtesy visit.

Captain Iheanacho promised the visitors adequate security and safety and assured that NPA was prepared to help the company in other areas within its jurisdiction.

In his speech, the operations manager, Assets/Floater of Transocean, Mr. Andy Rennie said they were happy to come to Nigeria for the maintenance service of the rig rather than go to Cape Town in South Africa or Las Palmas, Mexico because of the distance from Equatorial Guinea and the enormous cost involved in such a long journey.

Rennie added that NPA has been very supportive and that there are about one hundred and fifty staff working on board the rig, most of whom are Nigerians. He said the semi submersible rig GSF 140 will be in Nigeria for 80 days out of which few days have been spent.

According to him, having brought the rig successfully to Nigeria, many more will be brought into the country soon for such maintenance, and applauded the positive role of Nigerdock in the maintenance of the oil rig “GSF 140”.
