Youth Against Bad Leadership, YABL, a political group in Kosofe Local Government, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, has condemned what it termed the authoritarian leadership style of some party leaders in the area ahead of the forthcoming local government elections.
It condemned in strong terms the imposition of unpopular candidates by Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, leaders in the local government as well as in Ikosi/Isheri and Bariga Local Council Development Areas.
According to the convener of the group, Ojo Peter,”It is no more news that ACN leadership in Kosofe has been fraught with controversy, favouritism, nepotism and gross display of mediocrity since assumption of office and what is more worrisome is the flagrant disrespect to the feelings and yearnings of party members in the council area.
“One of the leaders of the party in the area is trying everything posible to impose his son in-law as the next chairman of the council despite the fact that the son in-law has just commenced his second term of five years tenure in State Universal Primary Education Board, SUPEB, as a permanent executive member.
“In a desperate move to achieve this selfish aim, the leader connived with a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly from the area, by promising his wife’s personal assistant the post of vice chairman. The attitude was also displayed in Ikosi/Isheri LCDA,” he said.
He added that the recent party primaries in the area were severely manipulated by the duo as against the wish of other party members.
He urged them to emulate the accommodating attitude of the narional leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who nominates candidates for political offices on merit, hardwork and loyalthy.
