Uyo Open Table Tennis Tourney: Union Bank Sure Of Good Outing

Chief Coach of Union Bank Table Tennis Club, Samson Ajayi, said his team are ready to give their opponents a run for their money when Uyo Open Table Tennis Championship commences on 24 September at the indoor Hall of Uyo Township Stadium, Akwa Ibom.

Ajayi said the performance of his players in camp is a clear indication that his team are ready for the championship which will hold in Uyo.

“We are waiting for the kick off date because my players are in high spirits and are ready to confront any team.

“We are not going to Uyo for jamboree but to win at the championship. I am happy that the players are well motivated for the competition,” he said.

The players invited to the camp are Jide Ogidiolu, Sola Oyetayo, Ganiyu Ashimiyu, Kazeem Makanjuola, Sharafa Adeleke and Sunday Odunlade.

Other invited female players are Rashidat Ogundele, Sidikat Yaya, Fatimo Bello and Aminat Fashola.

Ahead of the tournament, Secretary of the club, Bode Akinsola, said the management has motivated the players and they have no excuse to perform poorly in the championship.

“The championship is very important to us and that is why the management is doing everything possible to ensure that our players come out in flying colours in the championship.

I am quite impressed with the performance of the players in the championship and I won’t be surprised if they win the tournament,” he said .
