The Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture, Hon. Oyinlomo Danmole, has inaugurated the Central Working Committee for the 2011 Hajj with a charge on them to maintain the high standard achieved by the state in the past to ensure a successful 2011 pilgrimage.
Inaugurating the Committee which would serve as intermediary between the pilgrims and the government, Danmole urged members to put up a perfect arrangement that would guarantee the safety and welfare of pilgrims.
He urged all intending pilgrims to give their total support and cooperation to the committee by providing accurate information necessary for documentation.
â€œIt behoves us to ensure smooth pilgrimage to the Holy Land, help reduce the incidence of absconding, rifts and ensure spiritual uplift and welfare of all pilgrims,â€ he said.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Abdulhakeem Abdullateef, promised that members would justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring a successful pilgrimage. Abdullateef, who was a former Adviser to the Governor on Political and Legislative Power Bureau, also gave assurance that the Hajj would be performed in accordance with the provisions of the Holy Quran.
