Lagos Judiciary Set For New Legal Year

To maintain its lead in the country’s judicial system, the Lagos State judiciary has rolled out a one-week programme which would afford members the opportunity to interact and evolve measures to further move the judiciary forward as part of activities to commemorate the 2011/2012 legal year.

The event will commence with a courtesy visit to the Lagos State governor today 20 September by top management staff of the Lagos State judiciary.

Wednesday has been set aside for the presentation of the Draft of the Reviewed High Court of Lagos State (Civil Procedure) rules 2004 at the City Hall, Lagos Island.

There will also be a novelty match between the judiciary and the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Chapter, at Onikan Stadium on Thursday, while a stakeholders’ summit, with the theme: Repositioning the Administration of Justice System: Bar and Bench, will hold on Friday at the Lagos City Hall.

In order to keep the body physically fit, there will be a walk for fitness from Obafemi Awolowo, Allen Roundabout to Ikeja High Court from 8:00 am on Saturday.

The week will be rounded up with a thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church of Christ Marina, Lagos, for the Christians and the Central Mosque, Nnamdi Azikwe Street, Lagos, for the Muslims at 9:00 am followed by a parade and lunch at the Igbosere High Court.
