Members of the Youths Forum and other residents of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have protested against alleged imposition of the outgoing chairman, Mr. Adeyemi Olabinjo, for a second term in office, but some Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) leaders in the area.

The protesters, who stormed the party’s secretariat, said they were against the chairman’s second term bid, alleging that three years as first term of the council boss was a monumental waste as most major and link roads in the area have become death traps to the entire community.

They displayed placards with different inscriptions rejecting the bid and pleaded with the national leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to quickly intervene and present another candidate for them.

They also decried the dilapidated condition of schools and health facilities, among others, while noting that drainages were blocked upon the monthly allocation from the state government apart from the internally generated revenue accruing to the council.

They said it had been three years of suffering and bad governance, alleging that the chairman so much relied on god fatherism and therefore appealed to Tinubu and other ACN chiefs to investigate their allegations and come to their aid by ensuring that the chairman does not return.

Adewole Akinwale, secretary of the forum, wants the party leaders in the state to visit Ojokoro to see things for themselves as there is no development in the area, adding that they want somebody that will work exactly like Fashola.

“This is not about being anti-party, we don’t want the party to lose to the opposition in the coming local government election, we should be allowed to elect a candidate of our choice through primary election. But if the party insists on fielding the chairman, it should expect total revolution,” the youth leader warned, while efforts to speak with the chairman on phone before going to press proved abortive.
