A community leader in Lagos Mainland Local Government Area of Lagos State, Hajia Ayisat Sanusi, has charged local government chairmen in the state to refocus their priorities to enable them deliver the dividends of democracy to their people.

Sanusi, who gave the charge while she led a group of widows on a visit to the council chairman, Mr. Oladele Adekanye, recently, also urged the chairmen to tell the people what they do with the funds allocated to the councils.

She explained that since the third tier of government is closest to the people, it behoves on the chairmen to tell the people the projects they are executing that justified their leadership of the various council areas, while also advising the people to vote only for leaders that would have their interest at heart, more so that another local government election in the state is around the corner.

Hajia Sanusi commended the chairman for taking interest in the welfare of widows living in his constituency by giving them the necessary support at all times.

According to her, Adekanye has always taken care of widows since he assumed office, adding that in reciprocation, members of her group have decided to throw their weight behind his second term ambition, while imploring other residents to join hands with them and vote support Adekanye’s reelection bid.

Responding, Adekanye thanked the widows for their support and promised to improve their monthly allowance.

He also assured that the council will continue to assist them, especially through its empowerment programmes.
