Nigeria Drops In FIFA Ranking

Nigeria has lost five points, dropping from the 38th position in the world to 43rd in September’s ranking released by world football governing body, FIFA, early today.

Surprisingly, Senegal and Burkina Faso are ahead of Nigeria in the ranking, which saw the country dropping to sixth position in Africa as against fourth last month.

Cote d’Ivoire still leads in Africa and is 15th in the world followed by Egypt, which is 36th in the world. Ghana which is 3rd in Africa is 37th in the world.

Fourth in Africa is Burkina Faso (41st), Senegal is 5th (42nd), Algeria 7th (46th), Cameroon 8th (48th), South Africa and Morocco, which are 9th and 10th in Africa are out of the first 50 in the world ranking.

Meanwhile, in the latest ranking released by FIFA, Spain overthrew the Netherlands as world Number 1, while Germany, Uruguay and Portugal are third, fourth and fifth respectively.
