Rotimi Adebayo Now Lagos Speaker's CPS

Mr. Rotimi Adebayo has been appointed Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

With this appointment, he fills the vacuum created by the exit of the former CPS, Lanre Odubote, who is now a member of the House of Representatives.

Rotimi Adebayo is a renowned journalist and former Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

A 1985 graduate of English Studies from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Adedbayo started his journalism career as a freelance reporter at The Guardian Newspaper in 1987 before moving over to the Republic Newspaper (now defunct). In 1990, he moved to the Daily Times of Nigeria Newspaper conglomerate, where he grew to become Deputy Features Editor and Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Daily Times Chapel.

From 2000 to 2003, he served as Press Secretary and later Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Tinubu, before floating a monthly magazine, Development Focus, which was rested recently.

A fellow of the prestigious Salzburg Seminar Skloss Leopoldskron, Salzburg, Austria, he also has several honours including certificates from the International Development Institution in Austria, the Training and Research Centre, U.S.A, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He is also a recipient of the Commonwealth Media Award for Excellence in Health and Medicine in 1996/1997.
