Woman Pours Excreta On Neighbour

The police at the Iju division have arraigned two women, Doris Odafe, 29 and Ikeokwu Nwaogwugwu, 52 before the Abule Egba Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria on a count charge each.

The first accused, Doris Odafe, was alleged to have poured excreta water on the second accused at their residence at 1, Adebayo Street, Olowo-Obawole, Iju, Lagos on 6 September, 2011.

The second accused, it was gathered, attacked the first accused the following day by hitting her with a stone on her forehead.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Lugard Ahonle said the offences contravened Sections 351 and 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

The charge against Doris reads: “That you, Doris Odafe on 6 September, 2011 at 1, Adebayo Street, Olowo-Obawole, Iju, Lagos in the Ikeja judicial district did pour excreta water on Ikeokwu Nwaogwugwu and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2003.”

The charge against Ikeokwu reads: “That you, Ikeokwu Nwaogwugwu on 7 September, 2011 at the aforementioned place at Ikeja judicial district did hit Doris Odafe with a stone on her forehead and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 355, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.”

They pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate O.A. Komolafe granted them bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety each who must be gainfully employed.

Komolafe also ordered that the sureties must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government, adding that they must show evidence of NEPA bill payment and must present his or her National Identity card to the prosecutor for verification.

The matter has been adjourned till October 17 and 19, 2011.
