Police Arrest 2 For Beheading Student

The Edo Police Command on Wednesday paraded two principal suspects who allegedly participated in the beheading of a student in Benin.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police for the command, Mr Hurdi Muhammad, who made the revelation at a news conference, a gave the names of the suspects as Osagie Omorodion a.k.a. Musa, 23, and David Odigie, 24.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the victim, Larry Endurance Obanor was a 100 level student of the College of Education, Ekiadolor.

He was beheaded on 11 July by a group of people, believed to be secret cult members.

Muhammad, who disclosed that the command was able to effect the arrest of the suspects through covert intelligence, said that both suspects had confessed to the crime.

He said that the suspects alleged that Maris Omorogie, their leader, ordered the execution of the victim who was alleged to be a member of a rival cult group.

According to the Deputy Commissioner, “investigation revealed that Maris Omorogie has travelled out of this country as soon as he became aware that the police were closing in on him.

“The police will do everything to ensure that, Maris Omorogie is tracked down,” he said.

While promising that other suspects involved in the murder would be arrested, Muhammad disclosed that the two persons already in custody would be charged to court soon.
