Tinubu’s Trial: A Ploy To Rig 2015 Election —Akande

The trial of the national leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Code Of Conduct Tribunal is a grand design by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to rig the 2015 election in the country, stalwart of the party in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, Chief Ayo Akande has said.

Chief Akande said this in an interview with our correspondent during the week while reacting to the trial of the national leader of the party.

He noted that the trump up charges levelled against Asiwaju Tinubu by the Code of Conduct Bureau, an agency of the Federal Government, were aimed at intimidating and suppressing his views about the state of the nation, saying “this attempt is to frustrate him and pave the way for the rigging of the 2015 elections in the country.”

According to him, it took almost five years out of office for the Code of Conduct Bureau to fine tune its trump up charges for the PDP against Asiwaju Tinubu as former governor of Lagos State in order to cow him and prepare the ground for PDP to wrest power from ACN in the Southwest.

“The PDP has forgotten that no amount of intimidation can deter the ACN national leader from what he fervently believes in . I am quite optimistic such attempt will fail,” he said.

Chief Akande pointed out that the present phoney restructuring of the judiciary which eased out the likes of Justice Isa Ayo Salami as the President of the Court of Appeal was part of the grand design for PDP to perpetually sit tight at the federal level through rigging.

Commenting on the state of security of lives and properties in the country especially the bombings in the various part of the country by the Boko-Haram religious sect, Chief Akande observed that the terrorist attack was as a result of inept leadership, injustice and lack of concern for humanity on the part of the PDP, adding “that the heinous act is not religious but political”.

He said the solution to Boko Haram terrorist attacks is to vote the PDP out of power, noting that as long as Goodluck Jonathan still operates under the PDP, there might not be an end to Boko Haram attacks as the ruling party in the country has lost grip on the security situation in the country.
