LG Boss Commended For Visionary Governance

Chairman, Bariga Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Mr. Akeem Omoyele Sulaimon, has been commended for his visionary approach to governance at the local government level.

Prince Akindele Eshinlokun, Chairman, Community Development Committee of the area, made the commendation at an endorsement meeting organised by the CDAs and other residents, yesterday.

The residents, who were highly impressed with the level of development in the area, said it is based on the level of development witnessed that they are canvassing support for the chairman for another term in office.

Responding, Sulaimon, who is fondly called Oris, said his administration had made transparency and accountability its watch word, adding that in the next dispensation, it is going to introduce a monthly public hearing and rendition of the council’s account to residents of the LCDA.

He said further that as part of efforts aimed at sustaining the principles of transparency and accountability, various departments will be allowed to submit their proposals and programmes to the council’s executive committee for consideration and approval, instead of making unilateral decision and approval.

That method, according to him, will assist his administration to move forward.

He thanked the CDC members and executives, members of the various CDAs, market men and women and other artisans, the police and other residents of the council area for their support at all times, while charging parents on the need to monitor the movement of their children properly from keeping bad companies as, according to him, his administration is going to launch zero tolerance on crime and other vices in the council area if given another chance in office.
