WBC Commends NBB of C Over Ajose’s Medical Report
Chairman of World Boxing Council, WBC, Safety Committee, Luis Escalona, has commended Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, NBB of C for updating the council with the full medical report of Nigeria’s world Light Welterweight hope, Olusegun Ajose, who is scheduled to fight Ali Cheba of Canada in California, USA, on 30 September.
The WBC chief made the commendation in a letter written to the board, a copy which is made available to Boxing In Focus.
Escalona expressed the committee’s appreciation to the NBB of C’s scribe, Remi Aboderin, for keeping the committee abreast of the medical status of the Nigerian hitman.
“I thank Mr. Remi Aboderin, Secretary General of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control for his invaluable help and exemplary performance. This will be the third WBC Safety Advisory regarding the Light Welterweight division,â€the committee chairman wrote.
The WBC topshot, however, expressed his displeasure that the Canadian pro boxing board that should forward Ali Cheba’s medical report has not done so.
“Sadly we did not receive the 30-day weight for Mr. Ali Chebah, nor have we received his medical examination report. Therefore, we report to the WBC executive office that our safety rules are in breach having to recommend the application of the mandated fines in regard of the 30-day weight if they are deemed proper,†said Escalona.
The World Boxing Council is the organisation that sanctioned the championship bout between the Nigerian boxer and Ali Chebah.
