After weeks of anxiety, tension and speculation, the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, has finally released its list of candidates for election in the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the state.

The election has been slated for 22 October, 2011 by the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC.

Three council chairmen of the party secured third term tickets. They are: Hon. Taofeek Abiodun Adaranijo- chairman Orile Agege LCDA, Hon. Adeyemi Alli- chairman Odi-Olowo LCDA and Hon. Sulaimon Akeem Omoyele, chairman Bariga LCDA.

The national leader of ACN, Asiwaju. Bola Ahmed Tinubu during one of the party’s stakeholders’ meetings at the party’s state secretariat on Acme road, Ikeja, had hinted that some council chairmen will be rewarded for their loyalty, hard work and diligence to the party.

P.M.NEWS further gathered that they were also being compensated for shelving their House of Representatives ambition when the party prevailed on them to step down during the last National Assembly polls in the state.

Also on the list are four women, namely Akinyemi Obe Omobolanle, Mrs Morenike Adeshina-Williams, Princess Ramat Oseni-Adeyeri and Hon. Semiu Kemi Surakat, who will be vying for chairmanship seats in Coker-Aguda LCDA, Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Iba LCDA and Ibeju Lekki LCDA respectively.

Those who were not considered for a second term are Pastor Kenny Okunmuyide of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Dr. Rasak Folami of Surulere Local Government, Comrade Monsuru Ashamu Ola of Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Mr. Demola Doherty of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, and Hon. Wale Odunlami of Ikeja Local Government, while the majority of the incumbent chairmen were given second term tickets.

The list, before its eventual release, created a lot of hoopla among party leaders, council chairmen and party faithful with different allegations flying in all directions.

There were also sponsored protests against some candidates of the party by their political opponents within the party as well as malicious petitions distributed to media houses for publication against them.
