Monarch, Residents Kick Against ACN Candidate

The Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabir Adelaja Agbabiaka, has kicked against the candidature of Hon. Shamsideen Abiodun Olaleye for the chairmanship position of Isolo Local Council Development Area, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, in the October 22 polls.

The monarch who spoke during a protest stage in his palace on Tuesday, added that Isolo is a cosmopolitan community and the choice of the people counts a lot.

Present at the protest were the youths, community leaders, chiefs, market men and women as well as members of the Igbo and Hausa speaking members of the community.

He said,”the nomination of Shamsideen Olaleye for the chairmanship position of this LCDA is not a welcome development. Isolo is a cosmopolitan local government and the peoples’ choice counts. Therefore, the people are saying no to imposition.

“They are here to show that the whole community are disappointed in the choice of candidate foist on them by the party. They don’t want an unpopular candidate hence the reason they are staging this peaceful protest.

“If they could remember, in 2008, they promised that this year they will give this community a responsible indegene as their candidate for the forthcoming local government elections. The people are therefore using this medium to appeal to the leadership of the party to honour the pledge,” he urged.

He also appealed to the national leader of the ACN, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to listen to the voice of the people and give to them Mr Mojeed Ajani as their chairmanship candidate.

“I’m using my position to express the view of the members of my community, what they discussed with me to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rescind the decision of the party and respect the wish of the people. We are begging, we are not formenting trouble.

“They have suffered enough, they want somebody who knows where the shoe pinches them. They are the voters who will determine their future.
