Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, Comrade Ayodele Adewale has rendered account of his stewardship to the people of the council area, after three years in office.

Speaking at a town hall meeting held at 22 Road, Festac Town on Tuesday, Adewale said his administration was guided by its mission statement to harness the council’s resources to bring maximum good to the people of the area.

He said in the pursuit of the ruling party, the Action Congress of Nigeria, AC N agenda, his administration in the council won national and international awards like: the best environmental-friendly local government in 2009, the best local government on health in 2009 and 2011 and Lagos State award for the best-nurtured trees in 2011 among others.

On health, Adewale said his team met only one doctor but increased it to 21 doctors now working in the council’s well equipped health centres.

On education, he said 16 primary schools were provided with modern toilet facilities; sunk boreholes with treatment plants and 6 KVA generating sets to power plants.

To discourage child labour in schools, Adewale said the council employed cleaners. Items distributed include 13,300 uniforms, 16,000 mathematical sets, 220,000 exercise books, 1,000 JAMB forms and 1,200 GCE forms.

The council also organized “spelling Bee,” competition, children parliament, extra mural classes and excursion.

He said roads constructed or rehabilitated include a 1,394 metre by 8 metre circular road, 51 Road, 52 Road, 24 Road and 4th Avenue.

However, the council boss observed that Festac Town roads are old and therefore required the assistance of the Federal Government to fix some of them.

He said in the last three years, Amuwo-Odofin planted 4,000 trees of various species to maintain a fine and green environment. It also embarked on continous desilting of drainages and establishing green clubs.

Because of the support of the council, Adewale said Amuwo-Odofin youths were outstanding at state competitions and also won laurels at the MTN Lagos State Street Soccer Fiesta like Planners FC and Bablo FC also won medals at Ibile 2010.

Adewale thanked the people of the council for their support in three years and urged them to continue to support him and AC N in the October council elections.
