The wife of former Juju music maestro, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, Mrs. Juliana Fabiyi, began her last journey today as her remains were moved from Lagos to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, southwest Nigeria, for burial.
A large crowd made up of Decross Gospel Ministry, family members, friends and relatives were at Brewery bus stop, Lafenwa, Abeokuta today to receive the corpse. It was later taken to the Onikolobo residence of the Fabiyis.
The funeral train moved from Brewery bus stop to Akin Olubadan Civic Centre and from there, moved to Ita-Eko, Lalubu road, Ibara, OPIC, Oke Ilewo roundabout and Onikolobo in Abeokuta.
A convoy of cars belonging to traditional rulers and other important personalties in the society was also seen driving towards Bishop Court, Onikolobo, where a Christian wake-keep will hold this evening.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS this morning, one of the sons of the deceased, Mr. Rotimi Obey-Fabiyi, expressed appreciation to the people who gathered in thousands to pay their last respects to his mother.
He said the deceased, popularly called â€˜Mummy G. Oâ€™, had touched many lives and some of them would attend the funeral.
Her remains will be interred tomorrow.
In a chat with P.M.NEWS, Managing Director of TOS Funeral, Mrs. Taiwo Ogunsola, said she was overwhelmed by the crowd that received the remains of Mrs. Juliana Fabiyi, noting that it was unprecedented.
