The need to inject new blood, rejuvenate, re-invigorate and restore sports to its old glory in Lagos State are among other reasons Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola approved the dissolution of the state’s Sports Council and the boards of various sports associations.

Sports Commissioner, Wahid Enitan Oshodi yesterday told a management meeting of his ministry that Governor Fashola has with immediate effect dissolved the boards of the Sports Council and all the 38 sports associations in the state with the exclusion of the Lagos State Football Association.

He added that members of the various sports associations had served for many years and there is a need to inject new blood that will introduce fresh ideas and latest techniques in sports management as the state plans to host the next National Sports Festival.

Oshodi noted that the new boards would be reconstituted within the next two weeks in order not to create a vacuum. “The Lagos State Sports Council board would however be reconstituted at a future date to be announced,” he said.

Enitan Oshodi ordered all affected board members to hand over all associations’ property and documents to the Sports Secretaries immediately.
