Don’t Involve Yourself In Politics, Ajomale Advises Osolo

The chairman, Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Lagos State, Otunba Henry Oladele Ajomale, has described the dabbling of the Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Adelaja Agbabiaka, into partisan politics as unfortunate.

Reacting to the comments of the traditional ruler on the party’s decision over the chairmanship candidate for Isolo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, in next month’s local government election, the ACN boss described the monarch’s action as unethical for somebody who is expected to be a father of all.

Otunba Ajomale who spoke in an interview in Abuja, said he never expected Oba Agbabiaka, an exalted royal father, to drag himself into the murky waters of partisan politics by publicly taking sides with an aspirant when he is actually expected to embrace all, regardless of their ethnic status.

“The Osolo of Isolo for whatever reasons should not be seen as a biased royal father, he should not involve himself in partisan politics. And if he wants to practice partisan politics, he should resign as a king,” Otunba Ajomale advised.

Explaining the party’s mode of electing its candidates for the local government election on October 22, 2011, especially in the case of Isolo, the Lagos ACN chairman said the need to balance political slots among indigenes and non-indigenes was applied to sooth aggrieved parties.

The former commissioner for Special Duties during Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s administration, said a place like Isolo where the indigenes are less than 10% of the population, the non-indigenes who have helped in the development of the area, aside politics, should be given reasonable consideration.

Otunba Ajomale revealed that during the last April general elections, an Isolo indigene was given the party’s ticket to the House of Representatives and that by the grace of God; the man is now a member of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

The diplomat and lawyer turned politician also pointed out that in the outgoing administration at Isolo LCDA, the vice chairman, Secretary to the Local Government and one of the five councillors are indigenes of the area.

Otunba Ajomale advised Oba Agbabiaka to promote peace and harmony in his domain rather than creating a chaotic situation among his people.
