Fallen Standards: Proprietor Wants Teachers’ Welfrare Improved

Worried by the yearly drop in the standard of education in the country, government at all levels have been advised to take the issue of teachers’ welfare and conducive learning environment very important to improve the standard of education in the country.

Mr. Olusola Oluseyi Olusola, chairman and proprietor of Sun and Stars College Ikorodu, Lagos State, southwest, Nigeria, gave the advice while speaking to P.M.NEWS during a visit to the school, recently, saying that if government could take the advice into consideration the country would record unprecedented improvement in the educational system.

He said: “A conducive learning environment for pupils and a good welfare package for teachers, are two vital keys to improving the falling standard of education. If these two issues are looked into by the government, there will be improvement in educational system in Nigeria.”

Olusola said a situation where teachers are poorly paid and the pupils are subjected to harsh learning conditions does not augur well for the country.

He called on the government look into the two keys issues to save the country from falling further.

Speaking on the newly established Sun and Stars School, the chairman said the school was established so that pupils in the area can also benefit what their peers in Victoria Island and Ikoyi are enjoying.

He added that the school, which has facilities such as laboratories for all science subjects, ICT centre, sports and game centre, spacious classrooms, boarding facility, hostel, reasonable fees and seasoned teachers, remains the best in Ikorodu and its environs.
