Gyan’s First Goal Saves Al Ain
Ghana striker, Asamoah Gyan, is gradually justifying the jumbo pay he is receiving at Al Ain when his first goal for the club saved his team from losing today’s match in the Etisalat Cup.
SuperSport.com reports that the Sunderland loanee scored from the spot as Al Ain were held to a 1-1 draw by Emirates FC.
This was his second game for the side who are gearing for the start of the Emirati league in 14 days’ time.
He opened the scoring 27 minutes into the second half after his side won a penalty.
Gyan was loaned to Al Ain to help them improve their tenth place finish in the 12 team UAE league last season.
His deal is reported to be worth $200,000 a week.
Al Ain play in the Etisalat Cup next week, but Gyan would miss it because he would be on national duty as Ghana play Sudan and Nigeria’s Super Eagles on 8 and 11 October respectively.
He should be back when the UAE league starts and Ain play their first game with Al Nasr on 16 October.
