Access Bank recently treated Nigerian children to a weekend of fun, hosting thousands of them to Dora the Explorer, Nickelodeon’s famous animated preschool heroine and cartoon character’s birthday. Dora busied herself, inspiring many children in an engaging, impressive and memorable ceremony held at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Obinna Nwosu, Access Bank’s Divisional Director, Retail Banking said that his bank is engaging this crop of Nigerians as part of its corporate social responsibility activities aimed at inculcating ‘the virtues of diligence, honesty, trust and partnership with a view to forging healthy financial habits that would in turn make them aspire to responsible financial behaviour.’
‘It is discernible that lots of these children are used to Dora, very eager to identify with her, so it flows that she can sort of mentor them – influence their thoughts and actions in a positively which is why Access Bank is going the extra mile to bring Nigerian children together to celebrate Dora’s birthday,” Nwosu added.
It was a family affair, as several families turned out to catch a glimpse of the famous television character that they were otherwise used to watching on screen.
May Adamma, a mother who brought her children for the party said, “I am pleased to be a part of this birthday party. It is a rare chance and my children and I will remember this for a long time. I give kudos to Access Bank for this kind gesture. The bank has earned a special place in my family’s heart by this little act.”
Dora was on hand with her friends (other famous Nickelodeon characters) to treat the audience to a short and impressive stage play that left their audience yearning for more.
