Igbo Urged To Embrace Education

Prof. Eze Laz Ekwueme, has urged Igbo indigenes to endeavour to send their children to school and ensure that they don’t get involved in criminal activities.

He also urged them to work hard, whatever their profession, so that the Eastern Nigeria will not be named as part of those involved in terrorism in the country.

He stated this during the Ohazulume Day, a special day of celebration for sons and daughters of Igbo, origin.

All worthy Igbo sons and daughters including friends and well wishers were present at this year’s Ohazulume celebration.

He praised President Goodluck Jonathan for appointing Igbo sons and daughters into his cabinet and taking a cue from former president.

Princess Ada Annum, leader of the Igbo women added that: “We are here to support the growth of Nigeria to make sure of our country’s development and also tell the government to help us build and repair federal roads in the east.

“Our roads are bad, the River Niger bridge was built before independence and is now inadequate and weak. We are urging the government to please help to renovate and modernise it.

“We the Igbo hereby express our deep concern over the recent bombing of the United Nations office in Abuja and many other bombings that have disrupted the country’s peace in recent times. We also condole with the worldwide humanitarian organisation and the families of those who lost their dear ones in the unfortunate incident”
