Chief Dele Idowu, a chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Ejigbo Local Council Development Area, Lagos state, southwest Nigeria has denied being against the choice of Bamigbetan for a second term in office, contrary to rumours making the rounds.
He disclosed this while addressing representatives of Mega Group, Ejigbo on Monday, 3 October 2011.
“Bamigbetan and the councillors in his ward have been declared the party’s candidates for a second term,†Idowu said.
Mega Group, as party loyalists, has no objection to party decision and they have been directed to go and work for the return of Hon. Bamigbetan and his councillors, he added.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS recently, the party chieftain stated: “I have just discovered that people are using my name in various ways to oppose the return of Bamigbetan without my knowledge, to the extent of going on the internet and pages of newspapers. These are faceless people that are looking for cheap popularity.
“All these are a false indictment on my part, and if all this blackmailers does not stop, they will see the other side of God.
“Hon. Bamigbetan could have come for clarification, as an elderly person and stakeholder of the party. I have been in politics for over 50 years, since the days of Action Group.
“As far as I’m concerned, I’m one of the party’s builder, I can’t destroy it,†he said.
