Twenty-four hours after three aviation chiefs were sacked by the government, the Minister of Aviation, Mrs Stella Oduah, has sacked four directors at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN.
Uriesi, who was until his appointment the Director of Airport Operations in FAAN, replaced Richard Aisuebeogun in a gale of sacks that swept across the aviation industry yesterday.
The four directors affected are: Director of Commercial and Business Development-Ms. Grace Omonigho Etomi, Administration-Mr. Ajakaiye Adeniyi Adeola, Finance and Account- Mrs. Azuka Onyia, and Environmental Services- Mr. Mohammed Nasir Bello.
The General Manager in charge of legal matters, Mr. Alabidun was also fired.
At the time of filing this report, the names of those who replaced the sacked directors were not known.
President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday fired the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun, his counterpart at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, Mr. Ibrahim Auyo and the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, NCAT, Captain Adebayo Araba.
The government said that President Jonathan approved the disengagement of the three aviation chiefs “in line with the government’s transformation agenda.â€
Stakeholders in the aviation industry, however, believe that the men were sacked for incompetence.
