Beware Of Guinea, Adepoju Warns Eagles

Former Super Eagles’ midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, has sounded a note of warning to Samson Siasia and his team ahead of this weekend’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Syli Nationale of Guinea, that the game will be tough.

Adepoju said though the Eagles’ response to the game shows a high level of commitment and their readiness to put smile on the faces of Nigerians, they still have to watch out as the Guineans will be out to spoil the show for the Nigerian team.

“The match will be tough for the Eagles and I don’t expect us to see the match as an easy ride for our team. The good thing is that the players responded very well to the national call with their early arrival, a situation which will give their coaches the opportunity to prepare them well for the match,” he said.

‘Head Master’ , as Adepoju was fondly called during his playing days, warned that the Guineans would do everything to put the Eagles under pressure.

He added that the team should prepare for a tough match even as the Guineans have employed delay tactics on their arrival for the tie.

“This game goes beyond just tactical approach; it must be complemented with psychological approach. I know Guinea very well, they would do everything to frustrate the Eagles,” he said.

He charged Siasia to approach the game with the right tactics, as he sees Nigeria securing the ticket for the Nations Cup at the end of the day.

Meanwhile, captain Joseph Yobo has said that the spirit in Eagles’ camp is high.

According to him, “all is well in our camp. Everything is okay but you know that as a family there is always one or two issues but we are a family so I don’t think there are any problems. All problems have been ironed out.

“We are a united family now and everyone is in full support and even those players who are not here want us to do well and qualify because they are still part of the team.”
