Vivian Fowler Wins Felabration Debate

As the 2011 edition of Felabration began yesterday at the Freedom Park, Marina, Lagos, south-west Nigeria, Vivian Fowler Memorial Secondary School has emerged the winner of Felabration Secondary School Debate with the theme “If I Were President For One Day”.

Magaret Babatunde representing Vivian Fowler Memorial Secondary School defeated 10 other contestants from Holy Children Secondary School, Aunty Ayo Girls Senior Secondary School, Kelly College, Belina College, New Era Secondary School, Top Grade Secondary School, St Finbarrs College, Methodist Girls High School, St Gregory’s College and Methodist Girls High School to win a laptop.

Babatunde was adjudged the winner of the debate by scoring 433 points as against Nwakwo Happiness of Aunty Ayo Girls Secondary School, Foluso Adeosun of Holy Children College, and Alasa Blessing of Kelly College who came second, third and fourth respectively.

The first and second runners up also won a blackberry, and iPod Nano each with a N10, 000 vouchers to be spent at any Nike store and a swatch wristwatch each for the four finalists.

All participating schools were given a set of computer each.

The panel of judges consisted of Yemisi Ransome-Kuti, Professor Dacosta, Carol King, an actress, Mo Abudu, and Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, Senior Editor of TheNews magazine and Managing Editor of A.M.Sports, while Teju Baby Face was the anchor person.

The debate was attended by the winner of 2010 Spelling Bee competition, Akpakpan Iniodu James, Babajide Osilaja representing Senator Remi Tinubu, drummer/singer, Ara and others
