Nigerian Idol Season 2 Begins

Etisalat Nigeria, lead sponsor of Nigerian Idol, has announced the commencement of season 2 of the reality show on TV. The show is internationally renowned and seeks to provide opportunities for young people to excel in their quest to become superstars.

Chief Commercial Officer Etisalat Nigeria, Wael Ammar, explained that sponsorship of the reality show was in keeping with Etisalat’s commitment to empower Nigerian youths.

He said: “Music is an art that resonates with the youth, and Etisalat being a youthful brand has various products and services targeted at young Nigerians such as Easycliq and DotMe. Our partnership with Nigerian Idol is also one of the many ways we empower the youths of this great nation. Through this platform, young Nigerians can hone their musical talents, express themselves creatively and ignite their dreams.”

He noted that Nigerian Idol is also a top quality production that has debuted in several countries all over the world including USA, Turkey, Australia, Poland, Sweden, France, Belgium and South Africa; and that the structure and content of the show make it suitable for family viewing, and appealing to various demographics.

Nigerian Idol Season 2 will see a spice up in the line-up of judges with Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy, while soul songstress Yinka Davies and Jeffery Daniels return in their roles. Season two will feature new presenters who would be hosting the show: Tiwa Savage popular musician and songwriter and Rymz would bring their sparks to light up your screens.

Nigerian Idol Season 2 will see the winner walking away with a brand new SUV, high-end Blackberry device, Galaxy tab, recording and management contract, and cash prize, all totaling $100,000. Another addition to this year’s show would be the presentation of fabulous prizes to the 2nd – 10th placed contestants; the aim of which is to further encourage them in their quest to ignite their dream of being the next Nigerian music legend.

This year’s auditions will take place in major cities across Nigeria including Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and Enugu between 7 October and 6 November, 2011, while broadcast of the show will commence on 4 December 2011 on all the major TV stations across Nigeria. The winner of Nigerian Idol Season 2 will emerge in April 2012.
