Ume-Ezeoke For Burial 12 Oct.

The remains of the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Edwin Ume-Ezeoke, would be laid to rest on Oct. 12 in his home town, Obiagu, Nnewi Local Government Area of Anambra.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Ume-Ezeoke, who was a Speaker in the Second Republic, died on Aug. 1 in India.

Mr Agunwa Anakwe, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Burial Committee, announced the date at a news conference on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the burial programme was drawn in consultation with the family of the deceased, Federal Government, Anambra Government and the leadership of the House of Representatives.

Anakwe said a valedictory session would be held by the House of Representatives and the Anambra House of Assembly in honour of the late Speaker.

He also said that tributes to the late Speaker would be published after the burial ceremony. The former lawmaker expressed gratitude to all Nigerians for their support to the family.
