Alkali Warns NURTW

The national and state executives of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) led by its National president, Alhaji Usman Yasin, has met with the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Yakubu A. Alkali, over the lingering crises in Mushin, Akala, Shomolu, Fadeyi and Onipanu areas of the state.

The NURTW boss promised to shun violence and be law abiding as violence does not solve any problem.

The NURTW president sought the cooperation of the police, the state government and other security agencies to check the crisis in the affected areas.

He added that the factional problem at the state level of the NURTW would soon be resolved to usher in a new beginning.

In his reaction, the state police boss, made it clear that the NURTW officials should shun violence in all parts of the state or be prepared to face the appropriate action.

He, therefore, warned them to be law-abiding and stop fomenting trouble as anything short of that would attract severe penalty.

The CP added that the Lagos State Police Command was ready to take severe action against any erring NURTW officials and would no longer tolerate killing of innocent people by the union members.

The meeting was well attended by the officials of the union as well as the Deputy Commissioner of Police Admin, DCP Adams Audu, the DC operations, DCP Tunde Shobulo, some senior military officials, police and Security officers.
