The Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Lagos State Chapter this afternoon flagged off its campaign for the election into the 57 council areas in the state scheduled to hold next Saturday, 22 October.
Thousands of party supporters from all parts of Lagos State stormed the Onikan Stadium on Lagos Island, venue of the campaign launch, singing and dancing and chanting campaign slogans.
The ACN is fielding chairmanship and councillorship candidates in all the 20 local governments areas and the 37 local council development areas.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, ACN National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, were at the Onikan Stadium as at press time.
The venue was filled to capacity while the colourful crowd gave Onikan Stadium a festive atmosphere.
The ACN candidates arrived the venue with thousands of their supporters, wearing the Tee shirts of their favourite candidates.
Security around the stadium was tight but crowd control was adequate, though the security agents got much more than they expected.
In a chat with P.M.NEWS, Lagos State Chairman of the ACN, Chief Henry Ajomale, described the rally as a â€˜tsunamiâ€™ stressing that the party was not ready to concede any of the councils to the opposition parties.
