Jobless Graduate Docked For Stealing Laptop

Edward Davis, a graduate of Almadu Bello University Zaria,in northern Nigeria, has been arrested and charged to Apapa Magistrates’ Court Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, for allegedly stealing a laptop computer. He reportedly sold it at a give away price.

The cost of the laptop was given as N300,000 but he sold it for a paltry sum of N30,000 and fled.

The 38-year old graduate of business administration and Master’s degree holder claimed that he was broke because he had no job.

He reportedly stole the lap top from the owner, Rabiu Jubrilla in Lagos and fled to Abuja where he sold it.

The owner of the laptop reported the matter to the police, and detectives and a telecommunications company tracked him to an Abuja hotel room, where he was apprehended along with his girlfriend.

He was brought back to Lagos and charged to court where he is now facing criminal charge under section 390 of the criminal code 2003. He pleaded not guilty.

He also told the court that the laptop has been recovered and offered to settle with the owner.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs A K Shonubi granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum. The has been adjourned till further date.
