LASU Students Decry Fees Hike

Students of the Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, have lamented over the recent hike in school fees payable by new students of the institution. Addressing journalists at the university’s College of Medicine, LASUCOM, Ikeja on Monday, the new president of LASU students‘ union, Durojaiye Akeem Olalekan condemned the 725 per cent increment to be paid by new intakes.

Olalekan said the N25,000 paid by the student is wrong and if the Lagos State government insists on the increment, there may be unrest on campus stressing. “Despite the instalmental payment options, many students pay through their nose, so there is no way we can accept the increment.’’

The students’ public officer, Azeez Ibrahim Olateju, stated that there has been no improvement in the state of infrastructure compared to when LASU students were paying less.
