Pools Agents Want Govt Policy Released

Lagos State Pools Agents Association, LASPAA, has again called on the state government to release a policy that will guide operators of the business in Lagos.

The executives of the agents association believe that the situation in the pools business has led majority of the operators, including the state government, losing millions of Naira to the insanity rocking the business despite an existing edict, hence the need for government to come out with policy that will return sanity to the business.

President of the agents association, Major Sammy Ogunyebo (retd.) told P.M.NEWS that “it is painful that Lagos State Board of Inland Revenue, LIRS, is slowing down work on the proposal the association sent to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola despite the Governor’s explicit order for the Board to do so.

“I’m so glad with the effort of the Special Assistant on Taxation and Revenue to the Governor, Mr. Bola Sodipo, who has used his good office to speed up work on the proposal only for the LIRS to be giving us unnecessary excuses for the finally government policy which everybody is expecting.”

Sammy regretted that Lagos has allowed Ogun State to take the lead by coming out with a policy peculiar to the problem pools is facing in the state.

“We want the government of Babatunde Raji Fashola to save pools from extinction. Lotto has taken over the business of gambling and most of the problems pools is facing is caused by some of the operators of lotto who want the business to go down to enable them prosper,” he said.

“We won’t allow them to have their way. We want action expedited on the proposal from the LIRS, a tripartite meeting between promoters, agents and government officials to fine tune all the grey areas in the draft policy they want to submit to Governor Fashola for approval,” he added
