Amodu Tasks Osun On Sports Development

Wheel chair basketball player, Amodu Stephen, has charged Osun State government on special sports development, saying sports is a right channel to empower the physically challenged people in the state.

Amodu made this call at the training camp of Nigeria’s contingent for the qualifier of next year’s Paralympic games in London.

He said there is need for the state government to curb the increasing rate of street begging in the state.

The Ilesa-based player said Osun State government should emulate the kind gesture of its Lagos State counterpart by providing a conducive atmosphere for athletes to showcase their talents, complaining that there is no standard stadium in the state.

“Osun State government should empower the physically-challenge people of the state. We have potential to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state. The government should give us a stadium of international standard and other sporting facilities to train. They need to emulate Lagos State government in sports development,” he said.
