Daniel’s Ex-Aide Arrested
Former Commissioner for Finance during the former Governor Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s administration in Ogun State, Mr. Kehinde Shogunle, was yesterday arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
P.M.NEWS learnt that the arrest was in connection with the ongoing trial of the embattled former governor of the state, Daniel.
A source confirmed to our correspondent this morning that there are some documents in possession of the EFCC which have to do with financial transactions during the administration of Daniel which the former finance commissioner needs to clarify.
It was gathered that when the EFCC officials were interrogating Daniel, he denied knowledge of the documents which were allegedly signed by his ex-aide, Shogunle.
P.M.NEWS also learnt that the EFCC had been on the trail of Shogunle for about four days but his telephone line was switched off until his arrest yesterday.
It was believed that the former commissioner would be able to shed more light on the allegation of financial misappropriation levelled against the former Ogun State governor.
The media spokesperson of EFCC, Femi Babafemi confirmed that the former commissioner was arrested alongside other aides.
“Yes, I can confirm to you that Kehinde Shogunle, former commissioner for finance under Gbenga Daniel was arrested with the former Chief of Staff to the governor Mr. femi Majekodunmi and the MD of 21st Century Technology.
“As I am talking to you now, Shogunle and Majokundumi have been released and were asked to report back on Monday but the MD of 21st Century Technology is still in our custody as $1 million (abot N156 million) was traced to his account,†Babafemi said.
21st Century Technology is among the companies allegedly owned by the former governor.
