Governor Ajimobi Chases Investors to the UK

Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has left Nigeria for the United Kingdom (UK) on a five-day working visit.

The visit was made known today in a press statement signed by Ajimobi’s Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo made available to PM NEWS.

While there, the governor is expected to meet with some investors who have shown interest in committing their resources to the Free Trade Zones being developed by the state, whose ultimate aim is to bolster the economy of the state.

The Oyo State Government, immediately the current administration was sworn in, embarked on the Free Trade Zone project which is expected to generate employment and provide excellent business environment in the state.

Already, the government has set up a technical committee on the zone with the state Surveyor General sent to Dubai for the perfection of the survey of the 1,377 hectares of land acquired by the government for the exercise on Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

The Nigerian Export Process Zone Authority (NEPZA) has also granted the proposed trade zone an operational licence.

According to the statement, Sen. Ajimobi will also seize the opportunity to explore other means of attracting investments to the state, in fulfillment of his electoral promises to accelerate the development of the state.

According to Adedayo, the governor is expected back in the country early next week.
