Kidnapped Victims Rescued

Rivers Police Command says it has declared onslaught on kidnappers and rescued some victims.

One of such victims was rescued on Thursday 13 October, 2011 at about at about 9.25p.m. along New Airport road also called Professor Tam David West Road, Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, while the Special Area Anti-Crime men were conducting a stop and search a kidnap victim was rescued.

The victim was abducted at Obiri-Ikwerre bridge along East-West road and bound hands and feet locked inside the boot of a Madza car .

According to a statement made available to P.M.NEWS by Benjamin Ugwuegbulem, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, “when the anti-crime men stopped a Mazda car with two occupants, the men came down, and fled into the thick bush.

“Afetr searching the car, a man called Eze was discovered in the car boot tied with rope both hands and legs.

“The victim who claimed to be the owner of the car, said he was kidnapped at Obiri-Ikwere bridge 30 minutes before his rescue.”

The police spokesman added that “a mask and one locally made pistol were equally recovered from the car”.

The statement further said that efforts have been intensified to arrest the hoodlums.

Similarly, Mrs Obianuju kidnapped with her baby and another adult kidnapped on Tuesday 10 October, 2011 at about 10 a.m. were rescued at Ubinimi Egbede about 6.30pm on Thursday October 13, 2011, after Special Anti-Robbery Squad raided a bush in the area where the victims were kept.

According to the PPRO “the victims are healthy and efforts to arrest the culprits continues.
