Ajimobi’s Wife Commissions Mini-Clinic For Widows, Aged

Mrs. Florence, the wife of the Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi has lauded the authoritities of Ibadan NorthWest Local council for executing masses-oriented projects which will have direct positive impact on the people.

She made the remark at the commissioning of a mini-clinic for the widow and aged women located inside the council secretariat.

She urged local governments in the state to gear their efforts towards providing free medical health to the widows, explaining that her visit to local government councils in the state was part of government’s efforts to have an ‘on the spot’ assessment and to identify the actual needs of the people.

She noted that part of the aim of her visit includes showing appreciation for the support given to the new administration and assured the people of government’s readiness to embark on people-oriented programmes while also pledging to personally inaugurate welfare programmes for the vulnerable members of the society.

According to her, “on my part, for the women and children in Oyo State, it is a new dawn. I saw how the women of Oyo State worked tirelessly before and during the elections. Such dedication and commitment to the cause of truth, equity and justice must not go unrewarded.”

The Chairman of the council Honourable Wasiu Olatunbosun, stated: “In our march to progress and transformation, a lot troubles have been encountered which God has made us to overcome. Governance is an arduous task that requires a dedicated and visionary team.

 

“The Ajimobi-led administration in Oyo State has provided a new direction through people friendly policies which could have greatly manifested if not for series of uneventful happening such as workers’ agitation, flood disaster, cholera outbreak which seriously threatened its smooth take off.

 

“As Her Excellency commissions the mini widow and aged clinic in Ibadan North West LGA, another vista is being opened in the annals of Oyo State as meaningful provision will, henceforth, be made for the sustenance and well-being of widows and the aged.”

Continuing, he said: “this class of people because of their vulnerability deserve all attention and care the government could give. This is why our administration has come up with this initiative.”

Wife of the caretaker chairman in the council, Mrs. Adenike Olatunbosun, while expressing her appreciation to the First Lady, attributed the progress made in addressing some of the infrastructure and health needs of the people to the collaboration between the state and the local government.

She assured that she would continue to support the vision of the First Lady in the state to ensure women also benefit from democratic dividends.
