2 Die In Street Fight

What started like a play between two friends in Agege area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, degenerated into a fight that led to the death of two persons.

According to an eyewitness, Azeez Dokunmu of 7, Powerline, Oko-Oba and Ismaila whose second name is not known were playing along Alhaji Oladipupo Street,Oko-Oba. In the process, there was an argument between them which resulted in a fight.

Ismaila was alleged to have hit Azeez on the head with an object which made to slump and was rushed to hospital where he died few hours later.

The matter was reported at Elere Police Station and Ismaila was promptly arrested.

P.M.NEWS gathered that deceased’s family pleaded with the police to drop the matter as they were not interested in making a case since they are Muslims and believe in the doctrine of Hoy Quran which says God giveth and taketh.

When P.M.NEWS visited the family of Azeez at 7, Powerline Oko-Oba, his mother was still in shock but his father described his late son as an easy-going person who does not make trouble and said he hands everything to God.

He said: “My son can not hurt even a fly not to talk of fighting in the street. They just killed him for nothing and I leave everything to God. We are not interested in making a case.”

In a related development, a 22-year-old has allegedly been stabbed to death by his friend at Alaguntan in Lekki Phase 2 area during a street fight.

According to our source, the deceased was alleged to have stabbed during a minor quarrel.

Reacting to the two incidents, the Lagos State Police image maker, Mr. Samuel Jinadu, advised parents to always counsel their children on the type of friends they move with.
