Nigeria international, Kingsley Enosoregbe, who was paired with his compatriot Destiny Ford-Da Silva, has attributed their loss in the double’s event of the Governor’s Cup match played at the Lagos Tennis Club, Onikan, yesterday against Alexel Filenkov of Russia and Paris Gemouchidis of Greece to poor officiating.
The match, which ended in 7-6 5, 2-6, 10-2, brought out the best in the Nigerian players before finally bowing to the superior firepower of their opponents in the final set of the game.
“The game was very tough. We gave a good account of ourselves. We tried to curtail their advances but lost vital points to poor officiating. We don’t know what we did to him, he was against us throughout the game,†he said.
Enosoregbe stated that he would not be deterred by the result of the match, adding that his priority is to become the first Nigerian player to win the tourney this year.
“I still have hope of putting smiles on the faces of Nigerians by winning the tourney. I trained hard for the tourney and my aim is to clinch the star prize,†he said.
