A member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Olawale Alawiye-King has donated a trophy to support the ongoing Balogun Cup holding at Epetedo High School, Ebute Elefun, Lagos Island.
Alawiye-King, who is representing Lagos Island Constituency II in the state Assembly, told P.M.Sports that donating a trophy for the second place team would motivate the participating teams to give in their best during the competition.
He disclosed that he is planning to sponsor a football tourney on Lagos Island after the Balogun Cup.
â€œThe youth are the leaders of tomorrow, so it is good for us to empower them through sports. Balogun Cup is a competition that brings the youth under my constituency together. So it is my responsibility to contribute my own quota to the competition,â€ he said.
Chairman Organising Committee, Afolabi Onanaike, said the tourney has lived up to expectations. Thus, urged the players to play according to the rules and regulations of the game.
Action continues on Sunday when United Warriors FC face Peace Utd, Dynamics FC battle Adejumo FC, while Flying Stars will face Moon Shine FC.
Ifeoluwa FC will slug it out with Victorious Christ in the last match of the day.
